I have a question about volleying the ball when playing table tennis.

Can a player return the ball before it bounces on their court?

What do the rules say?

No, you cannot return the ball before it bounces.

That would be a volley which is not allowed in table tennis.

The technical term for a volley is "obstruction" but what it refers to is hitting the ball before it bounces.
